Christine Hovliaras, RDH, BS, MBA, CDE is President of Professional Savvy, LLC, an oral care consulting, professional marketing and continuing education company located in New Jersey. Christine started the company in November 2002 and has continued to work with dental care companies, advertising agencies, professional organizations, dental and specialty practices, business owners, student dental professionals and dental professionals in business marketing initiatives to enhance productivity, team and leadership and communication development, and career planning and counseling and cover letter, resume and curriculum vitae writing for career success.

Christine Hovliaras, RDH, BS, MBA, CDE has been a dental hygienist for over 27 years, and worked in a periodontal practice for 16 years, general dentistry for 9 years, as a clinical faculty member for 4 years and currently adjunct assistant professor at New York University Dental Hygiene Program, and at the Warner-Lambert Company, now Johnson & Johnson Company, for 12 years.  Christine worked in the areas of dental clinical research, professional sales, professional sales training, and professional marketing and relations at Warner-Lambert. She helped to launch Cool Mint Listerine mouth rinse, Cool Mint Listerine Toothpaste (Regular and Tartar Control), Listerine Essential Care Toothpaste and Cool Mint Listerine PocketPaks.

Christine was the first dental hygiene Editor-in-Chief of Access magazine, the official publication of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association from September 2005 – October 2008. Through her editorial direction and working with editorial staff and the Editorial Advisory and Industry Advisory Boards, Christine made Access a successful publication for dental hygiene professionals during that three year period. Christine received the honor of Editor Emeritus of Access magazine from 2009-2010. Her Professional Savvy™ column was published in RDH magazine from 2003 – 2005 and the Journal of Practical Hygiene from 1994-1996.  She continues to write articles for Dimensions of Dental Hygiene, RDH, Dental Economics and Hygienetown magazines.

She has presented numerous continuing education course programs to dental professionals nationally and internationally. She has had the privilege of being a co-author on many abstract and scientific publications published in peer reviewed journals.

Christine is a member of the New Jersey Dental Hygienists’ Association, the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, the International Federation of Dental Hygienists, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, American Dental Educators Association, American & International Association of Dental Research, American Association of Dental Editors, The Leadership Circle of the National Children’s Oral Health Foundation, Advisory Board Member of the Eco-Dentistry Association, Speaking Consulting Network, 3M ESPE Preventive Opinion Leader Board and United Who’s Who of Business and Professional Executives.

Christine received the National Association of Professional Women...VIP Division 2011-2012 "Professional Woman of the Year for Outstanding Leadership and Commitment within her Professional.  She received the Carol King Award from the New Jersey Dental Hygienists's Association in 2009, certification as a dental editor in 2008 from the American Association of Dental Editors and is the only dental hygienist to hold this honor. She is an honorary member of the Academia Il Chirone in Italy in 2008, an honorary member of Sigma Phi Alpha Honor Society in 2006, recipient of the Pfizer/ADHA Award for Excellence in Dental Hygiene in 2005 and honorary member of Who’s Who of Business and Professional Executives in 2004.

She will be launching her first textbook for student dental hygienists, practicing dental hygienists and faculty member dental hygienists entitled, "Savvy Success - Achieving Professional Excellence and Career Satisfaction in the Dental Hygiene Profession."  The textbook and faculty guide will be launched in Winter 2012.
